The Night Shift — Original Geometric Abstract Painting

The Night Shift

Even the most dependable among us might occasionally need a night off.

A luminous ivory circle dominates the upper half of The Night Shift, set against deep navy and black. Burgundy-red panels, cream rectangles, and four narrow white stripes introduce a measured rhythm to the composition. Clean divisions and carefully balanced color fields give this original geometric abstract painting a sense of order, interrupted by just enough tension to keep the eye moving.

The painting inspired a rather peculiar tale about a moon who, after centuries of dependable service, requests a personal day. The departments responsible for keeping the night running respond with emergency meetings, objections, and the sort of administrative panic that only a perfectly reasonable request can provoke.

Behind the humor lies a simple idea: rest is not a failure of duty. Sometimes doing absolutely nothing is its own small act of independence.
