Seven Angles
Apparently, a straight line can have quite a few opinions.
When most people think about geometry, they probably remember rulers, protractors, and trying to figure out why they needed to know the difference between an acute angle and an obtuse one.
I see something entirely different.
To me, an angle is a decision.
Change its direction, and you change the energy of a composition. Bring two lines together, and suddenly they create a relationship. Add another shape, and the entire arrangement begins to shift.
Seven Angles explores those possibilities.
The painting is built around angular relationships, directional changes, and the balance between individual geometric elements.
What fascinates me is that the vocabulary is so simple.
Lines. Angles. Shapes. Color.
And yet, the combinations seem almost endless.
I suppose that's why I keep returning to geometric abstraction.
The rules are wonderfully straightforward.
What you do with them is another matter entirely.
