Ochre Study
What happens when you stop relying on color to do all the work?
I've always been drawn to bold colors and the relationships they create. But with Ochre Study, I wanted to explore something different.
What if I limited myself to a single dominant color family?
Ochre became the starting point. From there, I worked with black, gray, and white, building a composition of arcs, circles, and intersecting geometric forms.
Without a wide palette to lean on, every decision seemed to matter more. The size of a circle. The weight of a black line. The amount of space between two shapes.
I discovered that limiting color doesn't necessarily limit possibility. Sometimes it opens an entirely different conversation.
Ochre Study became the first of my explorations into working within a restrained palette. It taught me that even a single color can have quite a lot to say.
