Below, vivid orange and blue angular forms, a smaller blue circle, and intersecting black-and-white lines introduce tension, balance, and a touch of unexpected playfulness against a warm ivory ground.

The painting inspired a rather peculiar story about Mr. Black, Mr. Burgundy, and their colleagues at the Department of Unnecessary Decisions. When Mr. Orange proposes moving the office furniture three inches to the left, an extraordinary bureaucratic ordeal begins. Committees are formed, reports commissioned, and eventually a decision is reached. Unfortunately, nobody can remember where the furniture was in the first place.

Behind the dry humor is a gentle observation about the human talent for making simple things needlessly complicated. The painting itself remains open to whatever meaning its viewer discovers.

Artwork details

Artist: Randy Jeffrey, Denver, Colorado

Year: 2026

Medium: Acrylic on canvas

Dimensions: 36 × 48 inches · Portrait orientation

Signature: Signed by the artist

Presentation: Sold unframed

Edition: One-of-a-kind original painting, not a print or reproduction

Gallery, studio, and interior images are digitally staged to illustrate display possibilities.
